Well, we live in Indonesia, the country who has many islands. It cause Indonesia called “Nusantara”. One island has many cultures, and it’s different between the others. So, indirectly Indonesia is also rich of cultures. Especially Bali, our province. It’s already famous in this world because its cultures. What are they? There are so many cultures, but the famous one is Balinese Dance. It’s not only one but also various. They are pendet, legong, oleg tamulilingan, kecak. barong, and many more. We need to dominate it, that’s why we have to learn it, because it’s our culture. So, we need art and culture subject in our school. It means that we learn about the arts and cultures of Bali, such as : Balinese dance, majajaitan, play gong or gamelan and so on. As we know, some schools in Bali include it into extracurricular, they include it into the main subject in their school too. We can call it the school who set a side in Balinese dance like ASTI ( Indonesian Dance Academy). It really help us to keep our culture.

But, Why do we have to learn all of it? Well, as we know, our cultures (pendet, batik, reog ponorogo, angklung, rasa sayange song, etc) are already claimed by Malaysia to be theirs. Whereas, pendet is already famous as the characteristic of Bali. Do you want they claim another cultures again? Of course not,  right! Because of that, we must keep it, and to keep our cultures we have to learn our cultures. By learning it in our school, we can dominate it day by day. So, there’s no country will claim our cultures again.

 

Can we get the advantages of this? Beside it can keep our culture from others countries who want to dominate it, we can also get the good effects. If we learn the Balinese dance seriously, we can join some competitions, and it can be an international dance competition. If we win it, we can introduce and show our cultures to the world, like “Hey, here is Balinese dance. That is our cultures.” How cool is that. It can also give us much money.

But, what about for our country? Automatically, if we can keep our culture, there are foreign tourists will admire us. So, they will visit our country, and it increase our country’s income.

I just wan to say, don’t be shy to introduce your culture. Don’t be shy to learn it in your school. Because it can be your excellence wealth in this world. So, let’s keep our culture to be ours!!
